...for one must be outfitted for every occasion. There is a dress for each course of a meal, a dress for riding, a dress for visiting, and such are the woes of me to wear them all... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...I do love the darker colors: blood red, coal, midnight blue, forest, plum--these are what the simple colors' fabrics are called! I did laugh at that, but only in my chamber, where no civilised court member can glare at me and try to instruct me in their ways. They, of course, made it a point to laugh at me when I requested simple dresses. One of the seamstresses must have taken pity on me, for my dresses were a great deal plainer than most at court. Perhaps this won't be so horrible... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...my ball gown must be the worst. I mean, can you imagine walking in skirts that are near two feet thick? I shudder when I think of trying to dance in it. Of course, I would make a jest of myself dancing without the dress, too, so I suppose it simply cannot get any worse...
